Mi nueva y formidable amiga Pippa me recomendó anoche un libro que quizás ya han leído: The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet. Las fotos me gustan, el concepto me gusta. Sin haberlo leído, se me antoja a medio camino entre House of Leaves, con sus apéndices, notas al márgen, tipografías bailantes y otros experimentos narrativos y Fun home, pero sin ser un cómic. Pero en más bonito, y con todo lo que mola estos días: un preteen autista, mapas, matemáticas. A Julian, que tampoco lo ha leido, le recuerda a The Wasp Factory. A Pepper -que sí lo ha leído- le recuerda a Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, de Jonathan Safran Foer. Pero tampoco lo he leído (sic).
La web es un primor y el resto las ilustraciones son muy bonitas. ¿Algún cristiano lo ha leído ya? ¿Se ha editado en castellano? Con lo que ya sé, casi estoy más intrigada por su próximo proyecto:
This one’s more of a Balkan-Congo thriller with some Norse saga thrown in for good measure. The protagonist is a telegraph operator from New Jersey who’s got some family issues — he starts chasing this underground society of puppeteers that perform surrealist shows about particle physics for populations under siege. I’m still working out the details, but it should be fun. No illustrations. Maybe strings.
